Indications:

In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, NIDDM), pioglitazone hydrochloride may be used in combination with dietary control and physical activity to improve and control blood glucose. Pioglitazone hydrochloride may be used alone, or it may be combined with sulfonylurea, metformin, or insulin when dietary control, physical activity, and monotherapy do not provide satisfactory glycemic control.
